Plants Grown in the Pacific Northwest for Pacific Northwest Gardens

Due to unseasonably cool growing weather this year,  we too have experienced crop loss and slower than usual plant growth.  Some of our plants have been removed from the “Growing” and “Available” lists and some dates when ready have slipped to the right.  There’s still plenty of growing season remaining for most plants so don’t despair!

Artichoke    Ready by end of season for over wintering

Emerald – Thorn less, glossy, buttery flavored artichoke with globe-shaped heads.  Good source of vitamins A, B and C.  180 – 360 days to harvest.

Green Globe – Perennial vegetable with large edible flower heads.  Ferny thistle – like foliage is also useful in landscape.  Artichokes are great for dipping in butter or sauces.  Under ideal conditions artichokes can be harvested the second season.

Cucumbers  End of June

Marketmore – 9-11inch, straight, white spined cukes on vines up to 6 feet long.  Burpless and not bitter.  Disease-resistant variety.  55 days.
